ICONIC CHESTER nightclub, Rosie’s is set to return to its roots with the return of Quaintways.

Quaintways, formerly the name of the current nightlife hub in the city centre is making a sensational return on Friday 22nd July which will see the return of live bands taking to the stage, marking the beginning of what General Manager, Chris Cunliffe hopes will ‘revolutionise’ the club.

“Live music has always been a big part of Chester’s history. In the 60’s, Quaintways played host to some of the most successful bands in the country in their early days such as Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Thin Lizzy, and even Robert Plant played here before Led Zeppelin.”

“Live music in this building dates to as far as the 1800’s, I think the history of this place goes under the radar.

“We want to make Rosie’s more than just a nightclub. We want to be a place where up and coming bands and established acts can come and perform. We have the potential to become one of the big-name music venues in the Northwest as we have all the facilities here.

“Initially we won’t charge acts a booking fee, as we’re committed to making this one of the best music venues there is.”

“We want to continue this tradition and bring in more events that aren’t solely connected the night club side of things and appeal to more people who maybe aren’t interested in just staying out until 4:00am by potentially hosting events such as comedy nights, quizzes, and bingo.”

“Since covid, this industry has evolved and so will we. People want choice and different options and we’re committed to giving them that.”

The reimagined Quaintways event will take place on the new purpose-built stage and will feature headline act, Screaming Devil Pleasure Beach. Lead singer, David Gregory revealed that the pull of Rosie’s unique history and future ambitions was key in signing up for the event:

“When the news broke that Rosies’ management were looking to tap into the heritage of their venue by bringing back live music, our band was honoured to be recommended to work with them in pursuing their vision.

Chester and District Standard:

“At the time we knew very little about the history of the place, considering it's been a nightclub for as long as we've all been around.  We were astounded to learn about its former Quaintways name and the pedigree of incredible bands that have played there over the years, such as the original Fleetwood Mac line up, Sex Pistols, Dire Straits, Thin Lizzy, Status Quo, Slade, Judas Priest and many more!

“With their mission to uncover the forgotten past of such a legendary venue, coupled with our determination to achieve as much as we can as a band both locally and beyond, it's a match made in heaven for both parties.

“They are really putting so much into this launch night.  They are installing screens along the ceiling & walls to allow the room to be more interactive and the sound system they are putting in is huge.  For our band to be involved in this ambitious project after only being together as an outfit for just over a year is incredible and we can't wait to join a long list of artists that have graced the stage there.

Deputy manager, Becca Acton added: “The champagne lounge we have will act as a green room area for acts and we also have shower facilities. The facilities we have here will appeal to big names as we’ve already had several acts enquire as to our availability.”

Tickets are now on sale for what promises to be a ground-breaking night at one of Chester’s most popular venues, representing the start of what is an evolution for Rosie’s.
