A MAN has been told to carry out unpaid work after getting behind the wheel when nearly three times the limit.
Gary Edwards, of Beech Lane in Barnton, was driving a Renault Clio on Winnington Street on May 15 when he was stopped by police.
Suspecting he was driving under the influence, Edwards was asked to take a breathalyser test which gave a positive reading.
The reading provided to police gave a reading of 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - with the legal limit being 35mg/100ml.
The 36-year-old was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 30, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Magistrates disqualified Edwards from driving for a period of two years and as an added punishment ordered him to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay court costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge to help fund victim services.
