THREE fire crews were called out to a camper van on fire on the M6, which led to major delays.

One fire engine from Holmes Chapel, one from Crew and one from Congleton attended the scene on the M6 south, between junctions 17 and 16.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are currently dealing with a campervan on fire on the M6.

"Three lanes of the M6 are closed, southbound, and lane four has now been opened to traffic.

"The camper is well alight and contains a propane cylinder which is involved in the fire. Two hose reels are currently in use at the incident."
