PLANS for an extension to Ellesmere Port Hospital have been given the go-ahead.

The single-storey extension to the existing hospital building on Chester Road was sought as planners applied for a Certificate of Lawful Development from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The scale of the extension, at 188 square metres, meant planners would not have to apply for full planning permission or go through a public consultation phase.

Documents included as part of the application revealed the additional space at the hospital would be used to provide space for an MRI scanner, an associated control/plant room, and 10 new car parking spaces.

It would be the first development work carried out at the hospital building since April 2021.

As the application met all the relevant criteria, CWaC formally approved the application earlier this month.
