CHILDREN and staff at The Firs School Chester have been celebrating the school's annual 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Week' with a series of outdoor activities.

As well as Sports Day, each child participated in Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) sessions and PE sessions daily, learning about online safety and finding out a little more about First Aid.

Each morning the children were invited to join Mr Girvan, the school's deputy headteacher, and a few of the other teachers on the field for a 'Morning Mile'. Students could run, jog or walk the distance to start the day from 8.30am.

Headteacher, Rosemary Evans, said: "It was wonderful to see our children embracing the concept of Healthy Body, Healthy Mind week and understand that these two factors lead to a happy, healthy life.

"We had a very varied curriculum for each year group which ranged from healthy food choices, to online safety and healthy friendships. The children were hugely enthusiastic and were inspired by our topics."
