A BUSINESS operating in Cheshire has been likened to 'a milk round' by its founder, after delivering sustainable, cruelty-free products to customers' doors.

The Refill Round was established in June 2020, after its founder, Julia Stansfield, decided that recycling goods wasn't enough to help the environment.

She said: "Only a fraction of the huge amounts of single-use plastic produced is actually recycled, and devastatingly vast amounts escape into our waterways."

Julia's business in Lymm delivers householding cleaning and laundry items, as well as toiletries, in glass bottles - these bottles will then be collected by Julia during her next delivery.

Julia recommends that customers keep hold of any old shampoo bottles, which the sustainable products can then be decanted into: "Once customers are ready to order again I pick up any empties and drop off the new order, in freshly filled bottles.

"Just like a milk round."

According to Julia, over the last two years, her customers have prevented the production of 8,500 single-use plastic bottles.

She also says that many people don't realise that lots of household cleaning items, like cloths and sponges, are actually made of plastics.

Julia says that the increasing use of sustainable goods is encouraging, "but more sustainable solutions are needed – and as quickly as possible."

The Refill Round delivers products on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week.
