A MULTI-VEHICLE crash is causing long delays on the M56 near Manchester Airport.
Two lanes are closed on the eastbound carriageway between junction seven at Bowdon and junction six at Wilmslow.
The incident happened in the roadworks area just before junction six near the A538 Wilmslow Road.
Emergency crews are at the scene.
There is currently two miles of congestion and delays of around 45 minutes.
There are currently 2 lanes ( of 3) closed on the #M56 eastbound between J7 and J6 near @manairport due to a multi vehicle collision. #TrafficOfficers are at scene and are dealing with the incident. Delays are approx. 45 mins so please allow extra time for your journey. pic.twitter.com/jLogXRRooX
