HAIRDRESSING and beauty therapy learners at Cheshire College – South & West were rewarded for their hard work when they competed in a top event
Taking place in Macclesfield, the Cheshire & Warrington Skills Hair and Beauty Competition, was a first for many of Cheshire College’s learners as they competed against learners from Warrington & Vale Royal College and Macclesfield College.
Collectively, the skills and talent of Cheshire College’s hairdressing and beauty therapy learners were recognised with eight awards, including three first place awards, one second place award and four third place awards in four areas: Level 2 Hairdressing, Level 2 Media Makeup, Level 3 Hairdressing, and Level 3 Beauty – Massage.
Andrea Huby, assistant director of hair, beauty and hospitality, said: “We encourage all our learners to raise their aspirations by entering both local and national competitions. We are very proud of everyone who took part and the amazing they achieved.
“It has been great to see their confidence improving and desire to compete in further competitions.”
Hadassa Sidwell, who won first place in Level 3 hairdressing, said: “It was such an honour coming first and it was very unexpected. Although competing came with its stress, it was so much fun to take part in.
"It truly shows that if you work hard and put your mind towards something you can do anything.”
Hannah Thomas, who won first place in Level 2 Media Makeup, said: “It was a really fun day! I didn’t think I would win but I had so much support around me. I plan on going onto Level 3 and 4 of the Makeup department and then progressing to university to work towards a career in editorial makeup in TV and film.”
