A Chester nursery welcomed a special guest this week as Mama G arrived to teach the children about the importance of diversity and acceptance.
The pantomime dame, who has appeared recently on Britain's Got Talent, visited Little Learners Nursery School yesterday (Thursday 19 May) to perform stories for the children and their families centred on loving who you are and celebrating difference.
The children enjoyed lots of Mamma G’s characters, including a fashionista dinosaur named Little Roar. Mama G explained that the aim of the session is to prepare the children not only to live in such a diverse world, but to feel comfortable being a part of it too.
"Children will see transgender people, same sex couples, and people with both visible and non-visible disabilities. It is our duty to encourage respect and acceptance to prepare children for the unique world around us."
As part of Dame Nation, Mama G, who is also known as Rob Pearce, received a standing ovation from the judges for the groups rendition of 'It's Raining Men'. The drag queen has also toured the country promoting their message of inclusion and self-love.
Trisha Spurr, Area Manager, said: "Showing children that they can be whatever and whoever they want to be in a fun, yet subtle way is great to build self-confidence and self-belief from an early age.
"We strongly believe that children who are comfortable are more likely to succeed in all aspects of life, learning and development."
