A SECTION of the M53 motorway by Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, was closed due to a road traffic collision.

The incident was reported on the southbound carriageway, on the exit slip road of the M53 at junction 10 (Little Stanney).

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed three fire engines - one from Chester, one from Powey Lane and one from Ellesmere Port - to the scene of the incident at 12.12pm.

One person was trapped in the vehicle following the road traffic collision. Firefighters used cutting equipment to release the casualty, who was then handed into the care of the ambulance service.

A second person from the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle themselves. Only one vehicle was involved in the incident.

Shortly after 1pm, the incident had been cleared and traffic was running as normal on that section of the motorway.
