CHESTER FC have announced the appointment of Calum McIntyre as first team manager.

Calum has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Deva Stadium and takes up the post with immediate effect.

The 28-year-old Cestrian, who becomes the club's seventh permanent manager since reformation in 2010, has been the club’s full-time academy head coach since 2016 and performed a variety of roles across the first team coaching staff – being involved in over 140 first team fixtures under three different management teams.

Calum also had a spell as caretaker manager in April 2018, securing an away win at Barrow in one of his three matches in temporary charge in the National League.

In June 2020, he took his first step into permanent senior management with Northern Premier Division One (West) side Runcorn Linnets.

In his first full season at the APEC Taxis Stadium, Calum guided the Linnets to an impressive fourth place finish and the play-off final, where they were narrowly edged out by Marine.

Calum’s achievements within his academy role speak for themselves, twice winning the National League U19 Alliance Cup and overseeing the development of academy graduates such as Sam Hughes, Tom Crawford and Will Goodwin, as well as current promising first-team squad members Harrison Burke and Ollie Heywood.

CFU Chair Kieron Shiel said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointing Calum to the role of first team manager.

“He was the standout candidate in an extremely strong list. I feel this is the right time for him and a very exciting time at the club as we move to daytime training at the KGV, recent strengthening of our board and the appointment of Georgina [Slawinski] as the new general manager.

“I really feel there are a lot of pieces now beginning to drop into place and Calum has been, and will continue to be, an even bigger part of that jigsaw.”

The Blues would like to place on record their thanks to Runcorn Linnets Football Club for their understanding and assistance.

The new club boss replaces Steve Watson, who left the club by mutual consent at the end of the 2021/22 National League North season, with the club finishing 16th in the table.

The news comes as the club has released details of its season ticket prices for the 2022/23 National League North campaign.

Current season ticket holders will be able to secure their seat online from Monday, with Early Bird pricing resulting in:

  • Up to seven games free for adults with prices from £10.43 per game (standing) and £12.83 per game (seating)
  • Concessions also receive seven free matches with prices per game at £8.70 (standing) and £10.43 seating)
  • Younger fans benefit from massive savings with 18-21s season tickets priced £60 (standing) and £100 (seating)
  • And prices have been frozen for Under 18s at £30 across the ground and free admission for Under 12s throughout the season

The club is again partnering with online ticketing experts Kaizen, enabling the club to process renewals online and make buying your season ticket quick and simple.

With two extra home games in 2022/23 as the league increases to 24 teams, adult and concession season tickets have been increased to reflect this.

The club says the 'per match prices' now offers even greater value and, crucially, enables the Blues to freeze prices for the next generation of supporters.

From Monday, existing Season Ticket holders can renew online at chesterfc.ktckts.com and secure their seat. For supporters who prefer to renew in person, the Deva Stadium ticket office will also be available for debit/credit card renewals from Tuesday, May 17.

People can also renew over the telephone by calling 01244 371376 during office hours (Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm) from Tuesday, May 17.

Disabled supporters are advised to follow the process of renewing online and once complete, email jeff.banks@chesterfc.com with the details of the carer who will accompany them into the stadium (if applicable).

An instalment plan is available for new and existing ST holders, who have until Friday, May 20 to take advantage of the option of spreading the cost of their season ticket across five monthly instalments. Please contact nick.phillipson@chesterfc.com for more information.
