STAFF at a Chester business are going the distance to raise thousands of pounds to help those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Meadow Foods, an independent supplier of milk, dairy, and plant-based ingredients, is fundraising for the crisis in Ukraine by collectively travelling the virtual route to the capital, Kyiv, from its headquarters in Chester.

The virtual journey covers a distance of 2,671km in 50 days, with staff members walking, running, or cycling their portion of the route, which includes information checkpoints and milestones.

The fundraiser is team-based, with Meadow Foods donating £2,671 on behalf of the first team to finish, £1,500 on behalf of the second team and £750 for the first team to finish. The wining site will also win a prize for its staff.

Lorraine Hammond, group HR director at Meadow Foods, said: “The current crisis in Ukraine is something we have all been very moved by at Meadow, and as our team have expressed their wishes to help, we thought there was no better way than by putting our fitness wear on and getting hearts racing.”

Meadow Foods is an award-winning company that operates from four BRC AA accredited sites in Chester, Peterborough, Holme-on-Spalding Moor and Dolgellau where it manufactures value added ingredients seven days a week for some of the UK’s best known food companies.
