A 63-YEAR-OLD man has been slapped with an electronic tag after attacking another man and damaging his reading glasses.

Archibald McKee, of Coronation Grove, Barnton, had pleaded not guilty to both offences, which took place in Northwich on June 19 last year.

But at Chester Magistrates Court on March 29 this year, he was found guilty of assault by beating and causing criminal damage to the glasses, worth £100.

McKee returned to court on April 28 for sentencing where magistrates imposed a four-month curfew with electronic monitoring.

This requires McKee to remain at his home address between 6pm and 6am daily until August 27.

The defendant must also pay £400 in compensation, as well as £400 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service. A surcharge of £95 to fund victim services was also imposed.

He must also complete a rehabilitation activity up to a maximum of 35 days.
