A THIEF has been jailed after stealing £1,500 from a sports club and damaging its gambling machines during a month-long crime wave.

Between March 24 and April 27 this year, Gary Bloor, 39, committed a series of offences.

On March 24, Bloor, of Parkfield Road, Northwich, stole food worth £54 from Tesco. Just 10 days later on April 3, he stole booze worth £20 from the Gladstone Club in Station Road.

Two days later, on April 5, he stole electrical items of an unknown value from B&Q.

He returned to B&Q on April 9 to steal more electrical items before trespassing at the Gladstone Club the following day.

While there he stolen £1,500 in cash and damaged seven gambling machines.

Bloor appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on April 27 where he pleaded guilty to all of the offences.

Taking his guilty pleas into account, magistrates sentenced Bloor to a total of 48 weeks in prison due to the seriousness of his offending.

This included two weeks for failing to comply with the requirements of post-custodial supervision.

He was also ordered to pay £2,491 in compensation and a surcharge to fund victim services of £156.

Bloor was given until  November 10 to pay the balance.
