FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a fire at a takeaway in a Cheshire West village this afternoon, Thursday, caused by a chip pan.

Crews from Northwich and Winsford were called to Main Road, Moulton, shortly after 1.15pm.

As well as the chip pan fire, they found a fire involving an external chimney stack.

Two individuals are being checked for smoke inhalation and an investigation into the cause of the incident will now be carried out.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “A fire involving a chip pan range has been put out by firefighters.

“Dry powder has been used to put out the range fire.

“There has also been a fire involving an external chimney stack which has been put out by firefighters in breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet.

“Everyone has been accounted for and an ambulance is in attendance to provide medical checks to two people with suspected smoke inhalation.

“The crews are working to isolate the services and an investigation into the cause of the incident will be carried out.”
