A DRINK driver has been fined £400 after colliding with a stationary vehicle while reversing onto a road.

Samuel Higgins, of Braemar Avenue, Northwich, was handed the fine during a hearing at Chester Magistrates’ Court on April 26.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol on April 3 – providing a reading of 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

This exceeded the prescribed limit of 35.

Higgins also pleaded guilty to failing to check for the presence other road users whilst reversing onto public road, colliding with stationary vehicle along Braemar Avenue.

Magistrates took his guilty plea into account when imposing sentence.

Higgins was fined £400 and must also pay a £40 surcharge and £85 in court costs.

He was disqualified from driving for 20 months.
