THE number of new Covid cases recorded across both Cheshire West and Cheshire East has risen slightly over the last seven days.

According to Public Health England, as of April 26, 2,976 new cases were recorded in the two boroughs, an increase of 607 on the week before.

This is made up of 1,354 cases in Cheshire West and 1,622 in Cheshire East.

These figures are compared with more than 2,369 coronavirus cases recorded across both boroughs in the week leading up to April 19.

This was made up of 1,080 cases in Cheshire West and 1,289 in Cheshire East.

Since the pandemic began there have now been a total of 119,531 Covid cases recorded in Cheshire West and 128,765 in Cheshire East.

Nationally in the last seven days up to April 26, 131,054 people have tested positive for Covid – down from 184,761 the week before.
