THREE people have been taken to hospital after a large house fire in Cheshire.

Five fire engines tackled the blaze early this morning, Sunday, at Limekiln Row, Runcorn.

The fire, reported at 1.12am, involved the fire floor of a mid-terraced property and crews from Runcorn, Penketh, Frodsham, Widnes and Warrington were called to fight the flames.

At the time, a Cheshire Fire spokesperson said: “Crews have split the property into sectors to deal with the incident, with four firefighters in breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets, as well as a covering jet, in use to extinguish the fire.

“Three persons are in the care of paramedics and are being assessed.”

An update a 3.30am this morning reads: “The number of fire engines has been reduced to three and the fire is now extinguished.

“Firefighters are using thermal imaging cameras to check for any hotspots.

“The three persons in care of paramedics have now been conveyed to hospital.”

At 4.20am, fire and rescue resources at the scene were reduced to one fire engine and by 8am, the remaining fire crew was damping down and checking for hotspots.
