Hope Farm Hotspurs JFC have been kitted out in new tracksuits thanks to sponsorship from housing developer Redrow.

The team from Great Sutton received £250 to spend on kit for their under nines' team.

Coach Mark Jakeman said: "We’re an inclusive community club with 12 players from across Ellesmere Port. We don’t hold trials to rate players – if a child wants to play for us they can.

"With Redrow’s funding we’ve been able to purchase tracksuits for the players. It’s been a real boost and has helped them keep warm during training or before matches over the winter."

"We feel we offer a good service to the community by letting these 12 children play and get physical, as well as contributing towards the upkeep of the school field."

The team plays at Meadow Primary School, around a mile and half from Redrow’s Ledsham Garden Village, every weekend in the Chester Junior League, with training sessions on Fridays.

Redrow trainee area sales manager Katherine Andrucci said: "Sports teams like Hope Farm Hotspurs play an important part in the community, helping young people stay fit and active, while having fun, making new friends and developing team working skills.

"We were happy to be able to kit the players out with tracksuits to help keep them warm during training and before matches."

The developer say that through their West Cheshire Fund, which is linked to Ledsham Garden Village and the sell-out development The Pastures in Backford Cross, they have supported various sports including football, rugby and netball teams, plus a gymnastics club.

Their current development, Ledsham Garden Village, is a 2,000 home project set in 100 acres. Redrow are understood to have committed to investing £13 million to support the growth of the neighbourhood.
