THE staff and children of Chester’s Queen’s Park High School have been delighted to raise more than £300 in support of the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Thanks to a donation of ice cream and donuts from The Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall, who also loaned the fundraisers a Cheshire Farm Ice Cream tricycle, the school was able show their solidarity with refugees fleeing Ukraine.

Maths teacher at the school Robin Johnson, who co-ordinated the fundraiser, said: “It was quite remarkable to see what the QPHS family could raise in just a 15 minute break time!

“We’re very grateful for the generosity of The Ice Cream Farm and would like to thank all of the staff and pupils who gave their time and money to support our Ukraine crisis appeal fundraiser.”

On February 24, the British Red Cross launched an emergency fundraising appeal in response to the intensification of fighting in Ukraine.

Katie Lewis, general manager at The Ice Cream Farm, added: “The crisis in Ukraine is not far from anyone’s thoughts at the moment. And we were delighted to be able to make this donation so that the children of Queen’s Park High School could play their part in showing support for those affected by the war. A huge well done to all involved.”
