A HUSBAND and wife team are getting ready to open the doors on their new Turin-inspired pizza restaurant in Chester city centre.

Augusto Pizzeria will officially open its doors to the public on Northgate Street on Thursday, April 14.

To mark the announcement, Augusto’s logos popped up overnight in Chester city centre.

Ready to mix up Chester’s ever growing food scene, husband and wife team, chef Valentina Aviotti and Fabrizio Gobbato, who already own Da Noi on Bridge Street, last year announced the launch of their second venture, Augusto Pizzeria.

Identifying a gap in the market and eager to introduce their contemporary-style pizza concept to the streets of Chester, the duo saw an opportunity to introduce an authentic Turin- and Neapolitan-influenced pizzeria, with fresh produce at its heart.

In anticipation of the grand opening, Augusto logos have this week been spotted across the streets of Chester city centre, including Northgate Street, Bridge Street, Foregate Street and Watergate Street, using ‘clean street graffiti or ‘reverse graffiti’, which is cleverly created by taking a design and ‘cleaning’ it on to the pavement using a commercial steam cleaning machine.

People are being encouraged to photograph themselves next to the branding and tag @Augusto.Pizzeria on Instagram to be in with the chance to win free pizza when Augusto’s doors open in April.

Unapologetically Italian, Augusto aims to transport guests to the streets of Italy, bringing authentic Neapolitan and Turin-style recipes with a unique twist to Northgate Street.

The authentic Italian recipes will be cooked by trained pizza chefs including head pizza chef, Giovanni Recchia.

Giovanni, who also originates from Turin, decided to join the Augusto project last year, looking to connect with Valentina’s ethos of authenticity and produce-led cooking.

Prepared using only the freshest ingredients, Augusto offers a varied menu from the classic margherita to marinara, showcasing Neapolitan and Turin favourites alongside more contemporary, gourmet pizzas.

The gourmet pizza toppings take much of their inspiration from different aspects of the Da Noi’s menu, which Fabrizio has carefully curated a list of Italian speciality wines for. For all the classic and traditional Neapolitan style pizzas, Fabrizio has chosen to recommend selected speciality beers as the perfect pairing.

Owner Fabrizio Gobbato said: “We are over the moon to finally announce the grand unveiling of Augusto Pizzeria and what better way than to show off our branding to the people of Chester.

"The whole team has been working very hard in the background to make Augusto a reality and we’re so pleased it’s all finally coming together.

“Thanks to our talented chefs, we have a fantastic menu that we can’t wait for people to come and try and the restaurant itself is now looking brilliant. April can’t come soon enough!”

Augusto Pizzeria has been years in the making and is one of the first steps towards the creation of a complete Italian family of brands that embrace all aspects of Italian food and drink traditions. 'Nutmeg' currently comprises Da Noi and Augusto with more concepts in the pipeline.
