AN independent Chester business set up in lockdown is to open a pop-up shop in the heart of the city.

The Lemon Tree Candle Company, a Hoole firm set up by partner duo, Rachel Kench and Del Thomas, will open its store in Grosvenor Shopping Centre from February 7-13.

Owners Rachel and Del first began their small independent business as a lockdown passion due to the struggle the founders were having to find a candle brand that was both reasonably priced and health friendly.

Through researching and experimenting with a multitude of oils, waxes and wicks, the Chester-based candle company now creates each candle and melt from a blend of coconut and rapeseed wax as its base, and only braided cotton wicks to ensure a clean and health friendly burn.

Chester and District Standard:

With the additional benefit of using purely vegetable waxes, the products melt at a lower temperature and have a much longer burn time. All wax products made by The Lemon Tree Candle Company are vegan friendly and free of animal cruelty.

Consisting of a range of 22 scents in candles, wax melts, diffusers, hand wash and body lotion that are all hand poured, the range contains 100 per cent premium fragrances and essential oils.

Co-founder of The Lemon Tree Candle Company Rachel said: “We are delighted to be sharing our products with the shoppers of Chester and to see our much-loved independent business in the prestigious St Michael’s Row is incredible.”

Del added: “Our candles are poured by hand so each is made with love and we’re very proud of each one. We can’t wait to share them in-store with customers.

"As a proud Welshman, we have taken inspiration from Wales and named some of our fragrances after popular Welsh words, for example ‘Cwtch’ and ‘Cariad’.”
