A TESLA driver from Cheshire West has been fined after being clocked doing 96mph on the M6.

Gary Thomas Hooson, of Denehurst Parkway in Cuddington was captured by an automatic camera heading northbound between junction 10A and 13 of the motorway on June 15 last year.

The 54-year-old was driving the white Tesla at speeds well in excess of the national speed limit of 70mph, topping out at 96mph.

The offence, contrary to regulation 3 of Motorways Traffic (Speed Limit) Regulations 1974, was dealt with by Staffordshire Magistrates Court.

Mr Hooson, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was not present at the hearing, which took place on Wednesday, January 19.

He was fined £306 and received five points on his license, while he was also told to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 in costs.
