POLICE officers and a police helicopter crew joined forces after receiving a call about an alleged kidnapping in a village near Chester at the weekend.
At 10.12am yesterday, Sunday, a caller believed a woman had been forced into a car by a man on Cobblers Cross Lane, Tarporley.
Following enquiries, no charges were made.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police explained: "Local officers, supported by the police helicopter, were deployed to help locate the vehicle.
"The car was subsequently stopped by officers from Greater Manchester Police on the M60, between junctions 21 and 22.
"Following a number of enquiries and having spoken to the pair, who are known to each other, it was confirmed that the woman had not been held against her will.
"The driver of the car, a 47-year-old man from Tarporley, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
"He has subsequently been released without charge."
