CHESTER Women's Aid have put together a training course to help employers to identify and support victims of domestic abuse.

With funding allocated by Cheshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, the charity has partnered with UP, a Community Interest Company who develop and deliver bespoke training programmes that enable people to identify and recognise potentially abusive and unhealthy relationships.

Employers will be taught to spot the signs of domestic abuse, to manage employee concerns effectively, to support employees who may be suffering and to respond to employees who are perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Chester Women's Aid say that training will be delivered via three separate Zoom calls, each lasting two and a half hours. Following completion of the course, participating organisations will receive a 'domestic abuse aware' badge to indicate that they have the tools to combat the issue effectively.

The training can be offered at no cost to small and medium businesses and sole traders in Cheshire. Larger organisations and those based outside of the county can still enquire for pricing.

Angela Benson, Chair at Chester Women's Aid said: "We’re very proud to launch this new programme of training across the county. It is the result of two years of planning and work by our board of volunteer trustees, supported by the Police and Crime Commissioner and UP CIC to deliver it. We see these tools as a basic component of any employee wellbeing programme or initiative."
