POLICE are appealing for information after a man was found seriously injured in the street.

The 68-year-old was discovered collapsed on Meadow Row in Runcorn at about 11.45pm on Sunday, January 2.

He had earlier been drinking in the Norton Arms pub on Main Street, leaving the premises around an hour before he was found with a serious head injury and rushed to hospital.

Cheshire Police say he has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.

The force has ‘conducted a number of enquiries to establish what took place’ and is now urging members of the public with information to come forward.

Detective constable Chris Tyrer said: “We understand that this incident may cause some concern, but I would like to reassure people that we are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of what happened.

“From the enquiries we have conducted so far, we’ve been able to establish that the man had been drinking at the Norton Arms on Main Street that night and left the premises at around 10.45pm.

“However, the man has no recollection of what happened after that point and does not know how he sustained the injuries.

“As part of our enquiries, we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the Meadow Row area between 11pm and 11.45pm and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.

“The same goes to anyone who may have dashcam footage from driving past the area.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the constabulary on 101, quoting incident number IML1169490, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
