Drivers in and around Wirral will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

• M53, from 8pm December 20 2021 to 6am January 27 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound, junction 3 entry slip road closure due to electrical works.

• M53, from 8pm January 4 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, J1 to J12 - Lane closure for communications.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M53, from 8pm January 11 to 6am January 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 southbound, junction 2 - four lane closures and slip road closures due to electrical works.

• M53, from 8am January 13 to 5pm February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 northbound, junction 3 - two - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M53, from 9pm January 17 to 5am January 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to 5 - Lane closure for drainage.

• M53, from 9pm January 19 to 5am February 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 southbound, junction 3 lane closure and slip road closure due to electrical works.

• M53, from 8pm January 24 to 6am January 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 southbound, junction 2 - one lane closure and slip road closure due to electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
