A FARE dodger from Chester who did not pay for an £8 ticket has been ordered to pay nearly £1,000.
Martin Alan Williams, 41, of Chiltern Close, was found to have travelled on the Great Western Railway line without paying the required fare, and entering Bristol Temple Meads station without passing through the required automatic ticket barrier.
Bristol Magistrates Court heard and proved the case in Williams's absence on Monday, January 10.
The court heard the offences happened on June 30, 2021.
For the fare dodging, Williams was fined £440, told to pay £8 compensation, plus £180 costs and a £66 victim surcharge.
For entering the station while deliberately not using the automatic ticket barrier, Williams was fined a further £220.
The total sum to be paid was therefore £914.
