FOUR fire crews rescued a woman from a fire in a village on the oiutskirts of Chester.

Firefighters from Chester, Tarporley, Winsford and Northwich tackled the blaze on the ground floor of a property on Utkinton Lane, Tarporley at about 1.30pm today (Wednesday, January 12).

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from a room on the first floor.

She was handed to paramedics to be assessed for smoke inhalation.

They used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and isolated the electrics.

They then opened the windows the disperse the smoke.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and firefighters remain at the scene.
