Chester's Oliver & Co Solicitors have raised £2,840 to date for charity Claire House after employees walked, jogged or ran one mile, every day for a year.

Having been unable to fundraise due to various lockdowns in 2020, 50 employees began their journey on the 11 January 2021.

Illness, injury and self-isolation made for a taxing twelve months, but they battled on. Some employees even had to resort to doing laps of their garden during isolation periods.

For every person who made it to the three, nine and 12 month checkpoints, the firm donated £10 to Claire House. The children's hospice supports over 400 terminally ill children and their families.

Together with public donations, the employees have raised £2840 (with further contributions still coming in) and a minimum of 9,022 miles has been travelled by those who made it to the end.

David Owen, Director of Oliver & Co, said: "This has been a great challenge for an absolutely amazing cause. During those days when the weather has been awful the motivation for the participants to keep going and getting their mile a day in, has been the fact that much needed money is being raised for Claire House. Oliver & Co are delighted that so many employees participated in the challenge."

Claire House charity said: "Oliver & Co’s incredible support throughout the year makes our work possible. Their huge team effort will have such a positive impact on our families lives."
