Legendary Liverpool and England footballer John Barnes will be coming to Chester's Storyhouse Theatre on Friday, January 28.

Barnes, who was signed by Sir Kenny Dalglish and starred alongside Ian Rush, John Aldridge, Peter Beardsley and many others in a 10 year career at Anfield, will be hosting a two part show with an hour long interview and a 30 to 45 minute Q&A, discussing his life, career and giving fans a chance to ask him their questions.

The former Watford and Liverpool man is considered to be one of England's finest ever players, with his goal against Brazil in the Maracana often considered England's greatest of all time. Barnes won two league titles, two FA Cups, a League Cup and was a crucial part of the England team who reached the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

Individually, he also won the PFA Player's Player of the Year in 1988, the FWA Footballer of the Year in 1988 and 1990 and featured in the PFA First Division Team of the Year three times.

Throughout, his strong character and personality allowed him to combat the vile racism which sadly still plagues the game and his example made him an icon to millions.

With The Anfield Rap in 1988 and World in Motion in 1990 he also showed his sense of humour. The latter became a key piece of 90s football and music culture with its classic rap, which will no doubt get an airing on the night.

Tickets are available from and start from as little as £25:
