PUPILS and staff at Hoole Church of England Primary School in Chester are celebrating a great success after raising nearly £2,000 for a local charity.
In December, the pupils got into the Christmas spirit and wore elf hats as well as taking part in a physical challenge in aid of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
Sponsorship from friends and family helped the children to raise an impressive £1,975 for the Backford-based hospice.
A representative from the hospice is due to visit the school this month to commend pupils for their determination and enthusiasm to donate the money.
Headteacher Ros Flanders said: “We are proud of the determination and effort pupils invested into raising money for this worthy local cause.
“We encourage children at our school to let their lights shine brightly in their personal endeavours but also beyond school and in their community by getting involved in supporting local initiatives and charities.”
The children at the school are now planning their next charity project for this term.
