SCHOOLCHILDREN have been getting creative in a challenge to name a new street in the Cheshire village of Kelsall.

Beech Grove Homes has worked with pupils from nearby Kelsall Primary School to name the road at its new 29-home The Willows development.

The children were asked to consider the open space and countryside that surround the development, as well as the shape of the road itself.

The winning entry, decided on by Cheshire West and Chester Council, was ‘Green Hill Road’.

The panel was also very impressed with the inspired entries of ‘The Turney Round’ and ‘Badgers Bend’.

The project was organised through Beech Grove Homes’ MORE! programme, which aims to engage with people in the places it is building homes.

Beech Grove Homes donated a £50 voucher to the school to thank the children for their hard work.

Headteacher David Wearing said: “We enjoyed working with Beech Grove Homes on the important task of naming the road. The children came up with some very thoughtful suggestions inspired by our surroundings.”

Danielle Wrigley, senior development manager at Beech Grove Homes, added: “It’s extra special to us that the street has been named by schoolchildren from the local community.

“We hope they will always feel a sense of pride whenever they travel past.”

Launching early 2022, The Willows is a collection of two and three-bedroom apartments and bungalows exclusively for the over 55s. The homes will be available for a combination of sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.
