BOXES filled with love will bring smiles to children across the world, thanks to kind hearted pupils.

Manor Park School and Nursery has been inundated with gifts after launching a shoebox appeal for Operation Christmas Child.

The school council decided to support this campaign which provides gifts for youngsters who will not receive a Christmas gift due to extreme poverty.

The school has a wonderful response and are overjoyed to be blessing those less fortunate than themselves and spread some Christmas cheer.

The children enjoyed organising the appeal and also delivered the boxes to the charity's offices.

Headteacher Simon Cotterill said: "It is a brilliant idea from our school council. They have organised this from start to finish and were very keen to support children who are not as fortunate as they are at Christmas.

"We are very proud of the many ways the school supports the local and wider community."

Amber, from year 2, said: "We are really proud to help other children at Christmas and know they will love opening their presents"

A spokesman for Operation Christmas Child said: "A simple shoebox gift packed with love can have a huge impact.

"Since 1990, more than 186 million children in more than 160 countries have experienced God's love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child.
