THERE were plenty of spectacular sights to behold in Chester city centre when it hosted the 12 Days of Christmas Parade last Thursday.

The festive event saw colourful costumes and merry music playing as the parade marched its way through the city, with a special guest appearance from Father Christmas himself at the Eastgate Clock.

All the characters from the 12 Days of Christmas song made an appearance, from French hens to lords a-leaping and, of course, a partridge in a pear tree.

The event also marked the debut for this year's 'roving moon' art installation, which will make also make its way across the city to new locations, with visitors invited to track down its new spot through cryptic clues.

Other festive activities taking place this season in Chester include a Santa's Grotto in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, where there will also be a Taste Cheshire Christmas market between December 9-12, as well as the returning Chester city centre Christmas market by the Town Hall, wrapped around the large Christmas tree.

This Thursday (December 2) sees the Lanterns Parade return through Chester, while December 9 and 16 see the return of the Winter Watch and Saturnalia Parade, featuring fire breathing, sword fights, Roman legions and dancing.
