THE launch of a new Christmas lights trail tonight has been postponed due to Storm Arwen.

The adverse weather conditions has forced the organisers behind the event at Bolesworth Castle, near Tatenhall to put it back until Sunday, November 28)

A spokesman said: "We are really disappointed that we have been forced to postpone this evening’s launch event at Bolesworth due to the adverse weather conditions over the next 48 hours with the arrival of Storm Arwen, and we will be holding our launch event this Sunday, November 28, instead.

"The wind is due to have died down by Sunday morning, with a much better weather forecast!"  

Bolesworth, near Tattenhall, have released a behind-the-scenes picture showing what guests can expect of the festivities, which will run for 28 nights.

The display will run until December 24, allowing visitors to kick off Christmas with an unforgettable after-dark experience.

The 1.2-mile magical trail runs along the lakeside and through winding woodland paths and grounds to provide a magical fusion of colours, music and unique experiences.

The event will also offer a laser light show, sparking lights for all the family to enjoy as well as a sculpture trail that showcases some of the best local and nationally recognised artists.

Along the way, visitors will spot real reindeer and enjoy a selection of festive food and drink at the Christmas village or snap up some special gifts from the Christmas market. There is also a selection of fun fairground rides for all the family to enjoy.

As well as the beautifully lit winter wonderland, there is the chance to visit Father Christmas, at Santa’s Grotto which is available to book as part of your visit. Children can have their photo taken with the special man and leave their Christmas wish list with him ready for his rounds on Christmas Eve.

The Christmas village will also host an all-weather and environmentally friendly synthetic ice-skating rink for the more energetic family members to book. Those wanting to indulge at Christmas can also enjoy the VIP Champagne Island that can be accessed across a bridge while soaking up views of the illuminated Bolesworth Castle. Cosy blankets and a glowing fire pit are available to help keep visitors warm on the winter nights.

This Christmas Lights Trail Event is the first in a series of new events that will be organised and hosted at Bolesworth Castle.
