A CHESTER school is to unveil its spacious new sports hall to families next month.

Grosvenor Park Academy will unveil the larger facility during an Open Day on Saturday, December 4.

Parents and children are invited to take part in winter wonderland-themed activities during the event, including face painting, reindeer food making and Christmas crafts.

Families will be invited on a tour of the extensively renovated facilities, including the new sports hall which takes up the whole third floor of the city centre building.

Head of school Richard Clark said: “We’ve given our Open Day a winter wonderland theme so families can enjoy a morning with us and get into the festive spirit.

“We’re also looking forward to showing them around our facilities, particularly the wonderful new sports hall.

"Historically, the school has had a focus on music and we remain very passionate about that, but we are delighted that our vision to add an exceptional sports provision to our offering is now a reality.”

North West Academies Trust (NWAT) took over the running of the school in 2018 and began an ambitious restructuring and renovation project.

NWAT CEO Steve Docking said: “The building now reflects the high standards that make this school unique and truly exceptional.”

The open day takes place on Saturday, December 4, from 10.30am-noon.

Opportunities to be shown round the school are also available on Thursday afternoons.
