WORK to renovate the Rake Hall pub in Ellesmere Port is now in the final stages – with the eagerly-anticipated opening set for December.

The redevelopment of the premises has been hit by delays as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But owners Brunning and Price – which runs The Architect and The Old Harkers Arms in Chester, as well as The Red Fox in Thornton Hough – have confirmed that the new-look venue will finally open its doors in December.

The Rake, based in Little Stanney, closed for good back in January 2020.

The Grade II listed building, which was formerly a Hungry Horse pub – one of the Greene King brands, was quickly snapped up by Brunning and Price.

In a social media post, the pub restaurant group said: "As Rake Hall in Little Stanney near Cheshire Oaks Shopping Village reaches the final stages of building work (ready to open in December) our focus now turns to building a great team.

"If you know of anyone in the area that might be interested, we would love to hear from them."

A video message posted on the Rake Hall Facebook page by the new manager calls on people to get in touch if they are interested in working at the venue.

He states: "As you can see our renovations are underway on our beautiful building. Now we just need people to join our team."
