MORE than 4,500 new cases were recorded across Cheshire East and Cheshire West in the last seven days.

A total of 4,606 cases have been reported in the two boroughs (1,843 in Cheshire West and (2,763 in Cheshire East) in the last week according to the latest figures released by Public Health England.

In the latest update, 681 new cases were reported in Mid Cheshire between 4pm on October 19 and 4pm today, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

This is made up of 303 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 378 cases in Cheshire East.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 45,016 in Cheshire West and 47,921 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means Cheshire West's seven-day case rate is now 536 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire East’s seven-day case rate is now 714.6 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 49,139 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
