A WOMAN who stole a First World War medal and an engagement ring in Malpas has been jailed.
Karen Corbett, 59, of James Hall Street, Nantwich, pleaded guilty to the sole charge of theft by employee when she appeared at Chester Magistrates Court.
Appearing at the court for sentencing on Friday, October 8, Corbett was jailed for 18 weeks.
Prosecuting, Debbie Byrne told the court the offence happened between March 1, 2020 and November 7, 2020, in Malpas.
Magistrates took into account Corbett's guilty plea, but said the theft of items which were of enormous sentimental value, breaching the trust of the victim.
The prison sentence was not suspended due to Corbett's failure to comply and respond to previous suspended sentences.
