A FAMILY-RUN craft gin distillery has been nominated for a prestigious prize.

Three Wrens Gin in Cholmondeley, Cheshire, is in the running to win Great Taste's Golden Fork trophy for the northern region.

It has been nominated for its popular Apple Crumble Edition which has recently been awarded the highest rated, three-star Great Taste accolade.

Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.

Recipients of awards from across the UK and Ireland have now been whittled down into regional nominees for the Golden Fork trophies.

Also in the running for the north of England prize is Mr Vikki's in Penrith, Cumbria, for its chilli jam and Rosebud Preserves in Masham, North Yorkshire, for its Damson Fruit Cheese.

The regional winners will be announced during a special ceremony at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on Sunday, October 17, following the first day of Fine Food Show North.

Great Taste will then go on to reveal its Supreme Champion 2021, which is the biggest prize in food and drink.
