FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a suspected arson attack on a tree in a street in Ellesmere Port.

One fire crew attended the scene of the blaze at about 7.10pm in Cook Street last night (Monday, October 11).

On arrival firefighters found the tree well alight.

One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames and then damp down the area.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It is believed that this fire had been started deliberately.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1106162."
