THE Post Office is proposing to relocate Broughton's branch.

The proposal is to locate it at Thrifty’s, 7 Broughton Hall Road, Broughton, where it would continue to operate as a local style branch.

The Postmaster has identified an opportunity to move the branch into the alternative new location to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community with extended opening hours.

There would be two Post Office counters alongside the retail counter.

The new opening hours would be Monday to Saturday: 7am – 10pm; Sunday: 9am – 10pm. This is 103 hours of Post Office service a week for the convenience of customers.

This is significantly longer opening hours than currently as the branch would be open daily. It would open all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. Also, it would open earlier and close much later every day for the convenience of customers.

This would be an extra 55 hours of Post Office service a week.

The current branch is already in Broughton Hall Road – around 30 metres away.

The Post Office said: "We are now starting a period of local consultation. We would like your views on access and the service offered at the new location. We are looking for feedback about accessibility, local community issues and anything that we can do to make life easier for our customers."

Consultation will close on November 16. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 319614.
