MORE than eight in 10 people aged 16 or above in Cheshire West and Chester have received two doses against Covid.

The latest Public Health England figures, as published on the Government's website, show that as of Thursday, September 29, a total of 80.4 per cent of people aged 16+ had received at least two coronavirus vaccine doses.

That equates to 249,138 second doses.

A total of 86.2 per cent of the borough's 16+ population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.

That equates to 267,135 first doses.

In addition to the current vaccine roll-out, people aged 12-15 are now eligible to obtain one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and can obtain their vaccination in school.

People aged 50 or over, people who live and work in care homes, frontline health and social care workers, carers aged 16 or over and clinically vulnerable people are all eligible for a Covid-19 booster vaccine, as long as it has been at least six months since their second vaccine dose.

People who are pregnant and in one of the eligible groups can also get a booster dose.

Most will be contacted by the NHS to arrange appointments. Frontline health or social care workers are urged to book their vaccine appointment via the NHS website.
