HOMETOWN support from Redrow has kitted out players from Groves Athletics Under 10s for winter.

The team, based at Groves Sports and Social Club in Ellesmere Port, scored funding for base layers and beanie hats.

It was one of 10 good causes to share a £10,000 voluntary community fund for the West Cheshire area linked to new homes being built at The Pastures, Backford Cross, and Ledsham Garden Village.

Team coach Stephen Davies said: “I’ve been involved with the club since my son started playing in the under sevens three years ago.

"The young players have greatly improved in that time and have been having fun while developing football and social skills. We’re grateful to Redrow for supporting the team – the beanie hats and base layers will make training and playing during the colder months much more enjoyable.”

Players visited The Pastures sporting their hats to thank Redrow for the funding.

Redrow area sales manager Chris Edwards said: “We’re proud supporters of grassroots sports. Through our West Cheshire Fund we’ve helped football, rugby and netball teams, plus a gymnastics club.

"It’s great to see so many young people in the area staying fit and active. Having the right kit is important and we were pleased to be able to support Groves Athletics junior players by providing them with kit to enable them to keep training and playing during the winter.”

Support for the team is in addition to Redrow’s statutory funding linked to its new homes.

The Pastures is a 100-home development that will also see almost £250,000 invested in local education, healthcare amenities and towards sports pitches in the area.

Ledsham Garden Village is a scheme of circa 2,000 homes set amid 100 acres of open space, with Redrow having committed to investing £13 million to support the growth of the neighbourhood.
