A PSYCHOLOGY graduate is putting her best foot forward to raise funds for a Chester charity that works with people in recovery from addiction.

Becca Lennard, who recently graduated from the University of East Anglia, will run the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday, October 3 for Fallen Angels Dance Theatre. The company-in-residence at Storyhouse Chester is unique in using dance in the recovery process.

This is not Becca’s first marathon. Earlier this year, in lockdown, the 22-year-old ran a 26.2 mile ‘virtual’ challenge in Norwich on behalf of her university netball team to raise money for charity.

Becca’s Golden Bond place at the Virgin London Marathon was made possible by the Chester Lions Club. She applied to run for Fallen Angels following her studies into the biological psychology behind drugs and the effective rehabilitation of offenders.

She said: “I can’t wait to put on my running shoes and take up this challenge. Fallen Angels Dance Theatres makes such an important difference to people's lives in such a positive and expressive way, which I think is truly inspiring.”

Claire Morris, executive director of Fallen Angels Dance Theatre, said: “We are so grateful to Becca for taking on this enormous challenge on behalf of Fallen Angels. She has already put so much effort into fundraising and the more she raises, the more people we can welcome to our recovery groups.”

“Becca’s marathon challenge will make a real difference to people’s lives.”

The London Marathon is usually run in April but was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2021 event was postponed from April to October 3 because of the continuing lockdown.
