A MUM who has relocated to support her son’s professional sporting ambitions is expanding her popular independent travel agency.

Claire Milby has launched a Cheshire operation of her Travel The Globe agency to meet an upsurge in demand among customers after the latest Government announcement that restrictions are set to be relaxed next month.

Claire’s business expansion to serve customers across Cheshire comes at a time when she has relocated to Frodsham to support 16-year-old Noah High, who has just been called up to make his debut for Warrington Wolves Academy.

Noah’s rugby league success means he wouldn’t be able to juggle studying for his A-levels and training with Warrington Wolves Academy if he had stayed in his native Cumbria.

With Noah having recently been awarded a professional academy contract with Warrington, mum Claire was happy to relocate to support her son’s sporting dream of making it as a full-time professional.

Claire said: “With Noah doing his A-levels at Priestley College, Warrington and needing to be at rugby training daily we wouldn’t have been able to make it work unless I relocated.

“I know the area well as we’ve been supporting Noah over the last two years while he has been on a rugby scholarship.

“With the upturn in interest in foreign travel now that restrictions are easing it also made sense for me to expand the business here as well as there’s a big area here that we can serve with trusted, independent travel advice.”

Claire and partner Gary, who is due to start a new job with BAE Systems having previously worked for GSK, are now hoping Noah’s big rugby breakthrough makes it a double family and business success for the hard-working couple.

Claire co-owns Travel The Globe with business partner Lisa Barnes. The duo have been operating the popular travel agent for eight years.

Claire and Lisa, who have 27 and 34 years of travel agency experience respectively, pride themselves on offering a personal, trusted, bespoke service. It’s an approach which has stood them in good stead throughout the pandemic.

Claire said: “People seem to have come to realise through the pandemic the true value of dealing with a local, experienced, trusted, independent travel agent.

“We give our customers full confidence and peace of mind by looking after every aspect of a holiday booking from start to finish.

“A lot of people are still unsure exactly what they need to do with regards to Covid testing and any paperwork. When they come to us we are able to guide them through step by step so they feel confident and comfortable with everything.

“It means they can concentrate on looking forward to their holiday and fully enjoy their well-earned break knowing that we are here to help and advise them every step of the way. It’s all part of that personal service you get from dealing with a business like ours.”

Claire said: “The surge in interest we have seen recently shows that the demand has always been there. People were just waiting for positive news about restrictions easing.”

Travel The Globe’s latest addition of a Frodsham operation adds to its offices in Ulverston and Barrow in Cumbria.
