Detectives are appealing for information to help find a man, following a robbery in Birkenhead this morning.
At around 6.05am on Thursday, September 23, officers were called to McColl’s on Laird Street to reports that a man had entered and made threats with a bottle taken from the store.
He demanded money but stole cigarettes and alcohol before leaving on foot towards Dundonald Street.
Officers remain on the scene to carry out CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries. Laird Street is currently closed at the junction with Plumer Street.
The suspect is described as white, wearing a black hoodie and red face mask.
Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: “Although thankfully nobody was injured, this will have been a shocking experience for staff and customers in the shop, and we’re determined to find the person responsible for this robbery.
“If you were in the area or passing in a vehicle at around 6am, your information, dashcam or other footage could be vital so come forward and we will do the rest.”
