THREE people – including a 12-year-old child – were taken to hospital following a two-car crash on the A51 near Chester.

Firefighters had to remove the roof from one of the vehicles in order to release a casualty who was trapped inside.

Three engines – two from Chester and one from Tarporley – attended the collision on the A51 in Duddon at 8.52pm on Saturday (September 18).

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed three patients were taken to hospital, including a woman in her 30s and a 12-year-old child.

Cheshire Police confirmed today (September 21) that the injuries sustained were not life threatening and all but one person had now been been released from hospital.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 8.52pm firefighters from Chester and Tarporley were dispatched to reports of a collision on the A51 Duddon Road in Duddon near Tarporley.

"On arrival at the scene they found there had been a collision involving two cars and one person was medically trapped as a result of the incident.

"Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car and release the casualty, who was then passed to the care of paramedics.

"Three people were taken to hospital at as result of the collision. Firefighters were in attendance at the scene for around one hour."
