A 75-YEAR-OLD man who pleaded guilty to assault has been handed a suspended prison sentence at Chester Magistrates Court.
George Millard, of Ince Lane, Elton, had previously admitted the offence, which happened on April 27 this year in Elton.
Prosecuting on Thursday, September 16, Alan Currums said the offence was committed while Millard was in drink, and he had previous convictions.
Magistrates imposed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
During that time he must complete 35 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement and a three-month alcohol treatment programme.
The court heard that Millard had previously been subjected to the alcohol treatment programme, but this was not completed due to Covid restrictions.
Millard must also pay £300 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
